Precision Investment: New CNC Lathe Strengthens Swan Engineering’s In-House Capability
In September 2024, we added a powerful new asset to our machineshop with the purchase of an XYZ ProTURN RLX 555 CNC lathe—part of our broader commitment to reinvigorate and modernise our machining capability.
This investment is more than just a new machine. It’s a signal of intent.
The XYZ RLX 555 is a heavy-duty, high-performance lathe designed for accuracy, repeatability and versatility. With its ProtoTRAK RLX control system, it blends the intuitive feel of manual machining with the efficiency of CNC operation. This means faster setups, less programming overhead, and exceptional control over the final finish—making it ideal for both one-off precision components and repeat batch work.
We’re continuing to invest not only in new equipment, but also in the people who run it. With the right tools and the right team, we’re building a machineshop that supports our fabrications, bespoke builds, and ongoing maintenance work with faster turnaround times, improved consistency, and greater flexibility.
This lathe is just the start. Additional investments are already planned as part of a strategic push to give our in-house production the capability to keep pace with the scale and complexity of the projects we’re delivering.
From prototyping and one-off parts to full-scale fabrication support, having this capability under our own roof is key to maintaining the control, responsiveness, and quality our customers rely on.
We’re proud to be building for the future—one smart investment at a time.
